Propulsion & Mechanical Systems Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY Support the Lead Engineer and the Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the propulsion and mechanical systems discipline. This role includes Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling, drawing creation and maintenance, mechanical systems analysis, test planning and reporting, and coordination with shopfloor and experimental hangar teams to ensure proper propulsion and mechanical systems installation and functionality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Produce installation layouts, component designs, solid models, drawings, engineering orders (EOs), and specifications in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification requirements and internal engineering standards

Prepare engineering data for FAA certification, including specifications, test plans, substantiation reports, and configuration documentation

Review technical data and support vendor selection to ensure purchased components meet design intent and performance requirements

Validate installations and components through simulation, analysis, and interpretation of test data

Support production and experimental hangar personnel in troubleshooting assembly and operational issues

Interpret program requirements and develop designs that meet performance, safety, and certification objectives

Assist the IPT in preparing materials for design reviews, program reviews, and technical presentations

Represent the propulsion and mechanical systems discipline in program reviews and flight test briefings

Perform additional related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in propulsion and/or mechanical systems installation development and certification

Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 23

Broad understanding of aircraft design, analysis, testing, and approval processes, including hands‑on familiarity with FAA certification procedures

Proficiency in CAD modeling using Siemens NX and configuration management using Teamcenter
Preferred:
-
Pilot experience, Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification, or familiarity with flight crew operations
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in both written and verbal form.
