The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Tax Manager to lead the company’s tax function across a complex, multi-state manufacturing platform.
This role partners closely with the CFO, Finance, and Operations and plays a key part in ensuring compliance, driving tax strategy, and supporting business decisions tied to capital investment, plant operations, and growth initiatives.
This is a highly visible role requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead federal, state, and local tax compliance across a multi-entity structure

Manage and review income tax provisions (ASC 740) and quarterly/annual reporting

Oversee sales & use tax, property tax, and multi-state nexus across manufacturing plants and job sites

Prepare and manage quarterly estimated tax payments and support tax-related cash flow forecasting

Review financial statements to ensure accurate reporting of taxable income and tax positions

Manage tax audits and resolve issues with federal, state, and local taxing authorities

Monitor and interpret changes in tax regulations and assess impact to the business

Partner cross-functionally with Finance and Operations on tax implications of CapEx, plant expansions, and supply chain decisions

Support M&A activity, including tax due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition integration

Lead proactive tax planning strategies to reduce effective tax rate and optimize cash flow

Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants

Drive process improvements, reporting efficiency, and automation across the tax function
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required (MST a plus)

6–10+ years of progressive tax experience (public + industry preferred)

Strong multi-state tax experience (income, sales/use, and property tax)

Experience managing audits and working with taxing authorities

Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments strongly preferred

Understanding of fixed assets / CapEx and project-based revenue (percentage-of-completion a plus)

Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth environments is a plus

ERP exposure (SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred
