Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician Level VI is an expert‑level maintenance professional responsible for advanced troubleshooting, multi‑system diagnostics, and high‑level mechanical and electrical support in an industrial processing environment. This role requires deep technical knowledge across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems. The technician is expected to lead complex repairs, support system upgrades, and provide technical guidance to the maintenance team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform expert‑level preventive maintenance, including detailed inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and system performance evaluations.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues across multiple production systems.
  • Lead major mechanical rebuilds, overhauls, and component replacements, ensuring equipment is restored to optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot advanced pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including proportional valves, regulators, accumulators, and multi‑stage cylinders.
  • Conduct advanced mechanical alignments using precision tools such as dial indicators, laser alignment systems, and micrometers.
  • Perform electrical support tasks such as identifying faulty sensors, relays, switches, and low‑voltage control devices (non‑energized troubleshooting).
  • Assist electricians with PLC‑related diagnostics, including identifying I/O failures and verifying field device functionality.
  • Support system upgrades, equipment installations, and modifications, including mechanical mounting, alignment, and integration with existing systems.
  • Perform calibrations on mechanical and electrical devices such as sensors, scales, temperature controls, and flow systems.
  • Analyze recurring equipment failures and recommend long‑term reliability improvements.
  • Document all maintenance activities, findings, and parts usage in the CMMS system.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to Levels I–V technicians.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and maintenance team members.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical or industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Expert‑level understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring devices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multiple system types.
  • Ability to lead complex repairs and provide technical direction to others.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and leadership support skills.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Forklift Certification (preferred)
  • Lockout/Tagout training (required after hire)

Tools & Equipment Used

  • Pneumatic and hydraulic testing tools
  • Basic electrical testing tools (continuity testers, multimeters for non‑energized checks)

Work Environment

Work is performed in a cold, wet, and noisy industrial processing facility. Exposure to moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures is expected.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Stand and walk for up to 10 hours
  • Bend, kneel, climb, and reach regularly
  • Work in cold, wet, or humid conditions
  • Work on elevated platforms or in confined spaces as needed

Schedule & Overtime

Day and night shift availability as listed; overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on production needs.
