Staff Product Engineer – AI-Native Developer Tools

Location: New York City (Flatiron District)
Work Arrangement: On-Site, 5 Days Per Week

Salary: $280,000–$380,000 Base + Equity

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Product Engineer to build AI-powered software tools for developers.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer with strong TypeScript, React, full-stack development, and system architecture experience.

Candidates must have experience building products from scratch (0→1), preferably in a startup environment.

This is a hands-on engineering position, NOT a people management role.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Software Products: Design, develop, test, and launch AI-powered developer tools.

• Full-Stack Development: Write and maintain code using TypeScript, React, and modern development technologies.

• Build Products From Scratch: Take ownership of new software products from initial concept through launch.

• Technical Architecture: Design scalable systems and make important engineering decisions.

• AI Development: Integrate AI technologies, coding agents, and AI-assisted development tools into software products.

• Improve Performance: Ensure applications are reliable, scalable, and efficient.

• Technical Collaboration: Work with company leadership and engineers to develop technical solutions.

• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to other engineers without directly managing employees.

Required Qualifications

• 7–20 years of software engineering, product engineering, or full-stack development experience.

• Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and React.

• Proven experience building and launching software products from scratch (0→1).

• Experience working at a startup or high-growth technology company.

• Strong knowledge of software architecture and system design.

• Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining complex software applications.

• Hands-on experience using AI technologies, AI coding agents, or AI-assisted development tools.

• Ability to lead technical decisions and work independently.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

• Must be willing to work on-site in New York City, five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at a developer tools or infrastructure startup.

• Experience building software specifically for developers.

• Familiarity with AI coding agents and AI-native development tools.

• Experience scaling new software products.

• Strong understanding of product development and customer needs.
