Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining and/or creating tooling to match part drawings in accordance with quality and production standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following:

• Read and understand blueprints and use necessary measuring devices and equipment to make or modify existing tooling for new and/or existing jobs.
• Repair or requisition replacement parts, tooling or hardware needed to maintain adequate stock.
• Repair/ modify production tools.
• Make new die inserts as needed.
• Understands and communicates the importance of good housekeeping and working in a safe manner.
• Maintains tooling in clean orderly fashion.
• Reads blueprints and executes assignments using machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines; grinders and all applicable equipment necessary to perform the job duties.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities.
• Responsibility for tooling: Must exercise considerable care and attention when handling all tooling to prevent damage. Tooling must be properly maintained and cleaned.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance including but not limited to checking oil, grease, and coolant.
• Assisting Tool and Die Maker in daily activities.

Must be able to use measuring devices including but not limited to Mic’s, Calipers, depth gauges, indicators, and tape measures.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; 2 or more years’ experience as a Machinist / Tool & Die Journeyman. CNC experience a plus.

Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

Mathematical Skills:

The basic ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide multiple digit numbers. Have a basic understanding of geometry.

• Wire EDM Experience

Additional Skills/or Abilities:

• Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills is desirable.
• Medium to moderate physical exertion required for the following:
  • Moving tooling and materials with lift trucks, hoists, and cranes.
  • Mounting tooling in roll forming mills.
  • Setting up racks on out-going wagon
• Must be able to mount tooling that weighs up to 60 lbs. with the assistance of lift trucks, hoists and cranes.
