Automation Systems Installation Coordinator

ProSearch Recruiting Partners, an independent franchise of the MRINetwork specializing in factory automation career recruitment in the machine tool, metal fab, and robotics industry, is recruiting for skilled Installation Coordinator to support on-site projects focused on the installation of specialized material handling and automation equipment solutions at client locations. The individual in this position acts as a central coordinator, facilitating communication and workflow between project teams, remote stakeholders, and the client. Responsibilities often include leadership in areas such as safety, materials management, and the oversight of mechanical and electrical work, quality assurance, and overall installation coordination.

 

Key Responsibilities of Automation Systems Installation Coordinator:

  • Monitors the progress and performance of material handling automation equipment installation at client sites, suggesting necessary improvements.
  • Oversees the implementation and training related to customized automation systems and operating procedures.
  • Collaborates with engineering and project management on installation matters, reporting discrepancies like shipping or design issues.
  • Contributes to the development of installation procedures and may create them based on expertise.
  • Manages external contractors involved in equipment installation to ensure quality and provide necessary training.
  • Utilizes various software platforms for engineering, project management, and service/installation teams.
  • Collaborates with subcontractors ensure project checklist completion.
  • Coordinates the movement of materials, electrical and mechanical work, and quality control activities based on project needs.
  • Develops and maintains installation schedules and tasks, and participates in client and internal project meetings.
  • Monitors and enforces safety protocols on-site to prevent incidents.

 

Qualifications of Automation Systems Installation Coordinator:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) with significant experience in material handling systems or industrial construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to use specialized installation tools.
  • Proficiency in safe rigging practices for lifting equipment.
  • Familiarity with automated material handling equipment such as stacker cranes, conveyors, and/or automated guided vehicles (AGVs), or automated storage retrieval systems (AS/RS) or related machinery
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (mechanical and electrical) for part identification and layout.
  • Ability to accurately lay out equipment based on design drawings and verify the layout.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and the ability to identify and address unsafe conditions.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical documents, write reports and procedures, and effectively present information to various audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 90%), both domestically and internationally, for extended periods at installation sites. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties of the role, including walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing, working at heights and in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are also required.
