Project Highway Engineer
Salary Range - $110k to $140k

The client's transportation team in Virginia Beach is recognized for its involvement in planning, engineering, and consulting services related to transportation infrastructure.
They focus on improving mobility, safety, connectivity and system preservation within the Hampton Roads and Central Virginia Region, collaborating on various roadway and bridge projects with public sector clients including the City of Portsmouth, City of Norfolk, City of Hampton, City of Williamsburg, City of Waynesboro, VDOT, NCDOT and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Authority (CBBTD) and the City of Tampa, Florida.
Job Description
Our client is growing and they have an opening for an experienced Highway Engineer to join their Transportation team with experience consistent, but not limited to:
Responsibilities
Duties include highway engineering, stormwater management and drainage design, cost estimating, and report writing.
- Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects including development of geometric horizontal and vertical layout, grading and drainage design, and utilities layout
- Preparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specifications
- Development of 3D modeling for conceptual roadway alignments
- Temporary traffic control development
- Constructability development and review
- Typical section development and pavement design
- Preparation of right-of-way and easement plans

Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering required, MS a plus
- 5-10 years of transportation engineering experience required
- PE required
- Demonstratable AutoCAD / Civil3D and/or Microstation / Open Roads Designer experience required
- Familiarity with VDOT and LAP project development a plus
