Warehouse Manager

Overview Level: Management Position Type: Full Time Shift: Open / Varies

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for directing all warehouse functions to maintain a safe, efficient, and high‑quality operation. Working in a facility that handles perishable goods, this role requires strict adherence to FIFO practices and strong inventory control. The manager will guide and develop the warehouse team, coordinate closely with other departments, and oversee both daily operations and long‑term improvement initiatives that support organizational goals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate warehouse and shipping processes, identifying challenges and recommending improvements in workflow and team engagement.

  • Maintain accurate operational records, including personnel data, shipping metrics, and productivity reports.

  • Collect and interpret operational information through observation, communication, and data analysis.

  • Inspect equipment, materials, and facility structures to identify issues and ensure timely resolution.

  • Establish performance standards, monitor results, and provide coaching and motivation to team members.

  • Foster a work environment built on trust, collaboration, and mutual respect across all departments.

  • Mentor employees to strengthen performance and administer corrective actions when needed.

  • Ensure supervisors and leads uphold productivity expectations and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee third‑party service providers such as yard and security contractors.

  • Serve as the communication link between warehouse operations and other internal departments.

  • Enforce all safety, quality, and attendance policies consistently.

  • Manage maintenance and repair activities for warehouse equipment.

  • Reduce downtime and maintain smooth workflow across all shifts.

  • Conduct routine walkthroughs to observe performance, reinforce safety, and support employee morale.

  • Lead special assignments and projects as directed by senior leadership.

  • Manage departmental budget and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Verify inventory accuracy through spot checks, manifest reviews, receiving audits, and scheduled physical counts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of experience in shipping or related operations.

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably in a warehouse environment.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Bilingual communication skills preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education is a plus.

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work 10–12‑hour shifts in cold environments such as coolers or freezers.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds.

  • Must be capable of performing physical tasks including climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and extended walking.
