Human Resources Generalist – Manufacturing
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations within a manufacturing plant, partnering with plant leadership to foster a positive and compliant work environment. This role is responsible for employee relations, full-cycle recruiting, benefits administration, compliance, and HR program execution to support a 24/7 production environment. The HR Generalist serves as a key liaison between employees and management, ensuring consistent application of HR policies and alignment with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on HR policies, performance management, and workplace issues.
- Support corrective action processes and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and offer coordination.
- Partner with local schools, workforce development programs, and community organizations to build talent pipelines.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
- Support workforce planning and succession initiatives.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA).
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
- Assist with audits and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Support implementation and communication of HR policies.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs and serve as a resource for employee inquiries.
- Manage leave of absence programs, including FMLA, workers’ compensation, and disability claims.
- Coordinate open enrollment and benefits communication.
Compensation & HR Programs
- Assist with compensation administration, including wage analysis and participation in salary surveys.
- Support performance management processes and annual review cycles.
- Contribute to employee recognition and engagement initiatives.
Safety & EHS Collaboration
- Partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to promote a safe workplace.
- Participate in safety meetings and support incident investigations.
- Reinforce compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Training & Development
- Coordinate training programs for employees and supervisors, including onboarding, compliance, and leadership development.
- Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives within the plant.
HRIS & Reporting
- Utilize HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, SAP) to maintain employee data and generate reports.
- Track and analyze key HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and time-to-fill.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive HR experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of California employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proven experience in employee relations and workplace investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees and leadership.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a REQUIREMENT.
