Description

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a facility’s process‑water collection and pre‑treatment systems. This role ensures proper monitoring, equipment upkeep, and regulatory compliance related to wastewater discharge and recovery operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily plant operations and adjust systems to meet operational demands
• Ensure full compliance with the Industrial User Discharge Permit and all applicable regulations
• Collect samples for both onsite and offsite laboratory analysis
• Operate and maintain wastewater pre‑treatment systems and tallow recovery equipment
• Troubleshoot process, instrumentation, mechanical, and data‑related issues
• Perform basic maintenance, repairs, and equipment calibration
• Document system performance and report improvement needs
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and readiness plans
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled
• Record equipment meter readings, water usage, and operational logs
• Safely handle pre‑treatment chemicals
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 45 lbs
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft applications preferred
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and occasional 12‑hour shifts to support coverage needs
