Job Title: Food Technologist / Regulatory Specialist

Key Responsibilities
- Submit labels to USDA and maintain USDA approval records
- Review and revise product labels to ensure compliance with USDA/FDA regulations
- Create and maintain product specification sheets for internal and customer use
- Manage supplier documentation including specifications, Letters of Guarantee, COAs, and claim substantiation records
- Develop nutrition facts panels using USDA nutrient databases and/or Genesis software
- Maintain records related to product formulations, ingredients, and assembly information
- Create formulation sheets for production
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, QA, Production, Marketing, Sales, and R&D to support compliance and product launches
- Assist in taking products from concept through commercialization alongside chefs, culinary consultants, and external partners
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and customer standards
- Develop specifications for raw materials, process controls, and finished goods
- Evaluate regulatory implications of product or process changes and implement necessary updates
- Represent Regulatory Affairs during product development and commercialization meetings
- Monitor changing regulatory requirements and communicate organizational impact
- Coordinate and manage regulatory documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
- Maintain regulatory databases and supporting documentation for new products and formulations
- Support external audits and regulatory inspections related to USDA, FDA, FSIS, Organic, and BRC standards
- Assist with supplier and ingredient risk assessments and ongoing compliance programs
- Review marketing and packaging materials to ensure compliance with food labeling and claims regulations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Applied Science, Nutrition, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in food labeling and regulatory compliance
- 3+ years of experience within the food and beverage industry
- Strong understanding of USDA and FDA regulations, including nutritional labeling requirements
- Knowledge of NIST, CBP, and FTC regulations preferred
- Experience with food processing, quality systems, QA/QC documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities
- Knowledge of food ingredient functionality and composition preferred
