Optometrist (Medical Optometry)

We are seeking a Medical Optometrist to join a hospital-owned ophthalmology practice within a well-established rural community hospital. This opportunity offers collaboration with an experienced ophthalmologist, another optometrist, and a highly skilled team of certified ophthalmic assistants in a supportive, patient-focused environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical optometry services
  • Conduct eye examinations and vision assessments
  • Diagnose and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for ocular conditions
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medical therapies as appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with ophthalmology and hospital-based providers
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Deliver patient-centered care to a diverse population

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited optometry program
  • Licensed by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO)
  • Active Vermont optometry license (or ability to obtain)
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft applications and EMR systems
