We are seeking a Medical Optometrist to join a hospital-owned ophthalmology practice within a well-established rural community hospital. This opportunity offers collaboration with an experienced ophthalmologist, another optometrist, and a highly skilled team of certified ophthalmic assistants in a supportive, patient-focused environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical optometry services
- Conduct eye examinations and vision assessments
- Diagnose and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system
- Develop and implement treatment plans for ocular conditions
- Prescribe corrective lenses and medical therapies as appropriate
- Collaborate closely with ophthalmology and hospital-based providers
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Deliver patient-centered care to a diverse population
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited optometry program
- Licensed by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO)
- Active Vermont optometry license (or ability to obtain)
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft applications and EMR systems
