Title: SENIOR FORM 990 PREPARER
Our client has carved out a strong CPA business serving Not-For-Profits (NFP's) in central Ohio, and is continuing to grow. Business growth and succession planning call for experienced professionals to join the team.
Currently, they are seeking an experienced Form 990 Preparer to be a part of their team. The ideal candidate will have several years of hands-on experience preparing and filing IRS Form 990 returns for nonprofit organizations. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of nonprofit tax regulations, and the ability to manage multiple engagements efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review Form 990, 990-EZ, and related schedules
- Ensure accurate and timely filing in compliance with IRS regulations
- Analyze financial statements and supporting documentation
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and clarify discrepancies
- Stay up to date on changes in nonprofit tax laws and reporting requirements
Characteristics and aptitudes of successful Auditors in this firm:
- A passion for the work done by NFP organizations, and a desire to make NFP's successful in their mission. An affinity for "doing good".
- Ability to flex and adapt to new scenarios and challenges.
- Exceptional communication / interpersonal skills and strong emotional intelligence to read and relate to a broad range of clients.
- A solid grasp of accounting fundamentals and track record of ongoing professional growth.
Core Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience preparing and filing Form 990 returns
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and tax compliance
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or EA designation (preferred but not required)
- Experience working in or with a variety of nonprofit organizations
