Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician Level IV performs advanced mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks in an industrial processing environment. This role requires strong technical ability, the capacity to diagnose complex mechanical issues, and the skill to perform system rebuilds and component replacements with minimal supervision. The technician is expected to work independently, support production reliability, and assist in mentoring lower‑level technicians.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform advanced preventive maintenance, including detailed inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and system checks.
Diagnose complex mechanical issues on equipment such as conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and drive assemblies.
Perform mechanical rebuilds, including disassembly, repair, replacement of worn components, and reassembly to manufacturer specifications.
Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic components, including cylinders, valves, regulators, and hoses.
Conduct precision alignments using dial indicators, laser alignment tools, or other measurement devices.
Replace and install major mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, couplings, and drive systems.
Assist with advanced troubleshooting of electrical components (non‑energized), including sensors, switches, and control devices.
Support equipment changeovers, calibrations, and performance adjustments to optimize production efficiency.
Identify root causes of recurring failures and recommend long‑term corrective actions.
Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and findings in the CMMS system.
Provide guidance and support to Level I–III technicians during repairs and troubleshooting.
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and sanitation standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and maintenance team members.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
3+ years of mechanical or industrial maintenance experience required.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring devices.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during troubleshooting.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior technicians.
Certifications & Licenses
Forklift Certification (preferred)
Lockout/Tagout training (required after hire)

Work is performed in a cold, wet, and noisy industrial processing facility. Exposure to moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures is expected.
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
Stand and walk for up to 10 hours
Bend, kneel, climb, and reach regularly
Work in cold, wet, or humid conditions
Work on elevated platforms or in confined spaces as needed
Schedule & Overtime
Day and night shift availability as listed; overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on production needs.
