Wastewater Supervisor

We are seeking a motivated, career-oriented wastewater professional to join our operations as a Wastewater Supervisor. This role reports to the Environmental & Wastewater Manager and is responsible for supporting the successful operation of a dynamic wastewater treatment facility and public drinking water system.

The Wastewater Supervisor supports the Wastewater Manager by overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of treatment equipment, biological processes, reuse sites, sewer systems, solids management, grounds maintenance, and the public drinking water system. This position serves as a critical link between management and operations, ensuring stable, consistent, and compliant performance.

This is a high-energy, hands-on leadership role focused on providing support and coordination where needed while setting a strong example through professionalism, accountability, and a solid work ethic.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform and coordinate daily sample collection and laboratory analysis in accordance with established technical procedures and approved scientific methods.

  • Collect, compile, record, review, and interpret technical data to support plant operations and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely with coworkers and management regarding operational status and performance.

  • Receive, disseminate, and implement directives from the management team effectively.

  • Monitor and supervise the SCADA system through the HMI, evaluate trends, and respond to alarms.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment and provide coaching on troubleshooting techniques to operations staff.

  • Maintain all facilities in an audit-ready condition through consistent application of good housekeeping and maintenance practices.

  • Safely operate and supervise the use of support equipment, including forklifts, telehandlers, UTVs, manlifts, loaders, tractors, dump trucks, and similar equipment.

  • Track inventories to ensure adequate supplies and uninterrupted operations, including chemicals, parts, and consumables.

  • Support preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration of system equipment using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

  • Follow written and verbal instructions and comply with all company policies, procedures, and safe work practices.

  • Foster positive working relationships with coworkers and cross-functional teams to promote efficient and collaborative operations.

  • Coordinate small projects and perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Willingness and ability to be on call and work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Ability to work comfortably in odorous, hot, humid, dirty, noisy, or otherwise challenging environments, both indoors and outdoors, including inclement weather.

  • Physical capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; climb ladders; stand for extended periods; crawl, stoop, twist, kneel; work from heights or boats; work in confined spaces; and safely handle hazardous chemicals and equipment.


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Supervisory experience required.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Coursework, training, or hands-on experience in biology, chemistry, hydraulics, or mechanics required.

  • Drinking water distribution and wastewater treatment certifications and experience required.

    • Candidates with five (5) or more years of relevant operating experience and the ability to obtain required licenses may be considered.
