Legal Business Development Manager
Our client, a prestigious multinational law firm is looking to fill the need for a Business Development Manager to support the Technology & Industry Practice. This role reports on a hybrid basis (three days onsite) to the firm’s office in Los Angeles.

Salary: $199,500 - $249,500 / Annually DOE & Location (+ Full Benefits)
The Business Development Manager will support the Technology and Industry practice. Working strategically with practice group leaders, and broader marketing team to ensure effective client development, marketing, and external communications programs with the goal of growing revenues and building the firm’s profile within this practice.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic business development partner and primary point of contact for assigned practice and industry group leadership
- Partner directly with attorneys and firm leadership to develop and execute strategic business development plans focused on new business generation, client expansion, and market growth
- Identify and evaluate target clients, prospects, industries, and business opportunities in collaboration with attorneys and the broader Business Development team
- Develop and manage business development initiatives and programs designed to strengthen existing client relationships and generate new business opportunities
- Prepare targeted client pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, including coordinating strategy sessions and preparing attorneys for client meetings and presentations
- Track and report on business development activity, opportunity pipelines, pitch outcomes, client wins/losses, and the effectiveness and ROI of initiatives
- Leverage market research, competitive intelligence, and industry trends to identify growth opportunities and support client targeting and business development strategies
- Monitoring relevant industry, regulatory, and competitive developments and proactively communicate market opportunities and prospective client leads to attorneys and practice group leadership
- Coordinate cross-practice and cross-office business development initiatives, partnering with colleagues across Marketing, Communications, Events, and Client Relationship Management
- Participate in practice and industry group meetings and support leadership with business development reporting, strategic planning, and follow-up on key initiatives and action items
- Develop and recommend client-focused thought leadership, CLE programs, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, and other activities designed to strengthen relationships and enhance market visibility
- Lead or support the business development integration of lateral attorneys, ensuring effective client targeting, relationship mapping, and market positioning
- Partner with Public Relations and Communications teams to identify and leverage media, speaking, and external visibility opportunities
- Collaborate with Events teams to develop and execute client events, from concept development and invitations through logistics, onsite support, and post-event follow-up
- Draft and coordinate submissions for legal directories, rankings, and industry awards, including Chambers and other key publications
- Maintain and develop practice group experience, representative matters, client lists, and success stories for use in pitches, proposals, website content, attorney biographies, and marketing materials
- Collaborate with Digital Marketing and Communications teams to develop and maintain website content, brochures, client alerts, and other external-facing materials
- Develop and maintain segmented client and prospect databases and mailing lists in partnership with CRM and Business Development teams
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to Business Development Specialists and other team members on best practices related to pitches, proposals, client development, events, content, and activity tracking
Qualifications:
A qualified candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related fields. A higher degree in MBA or JD is a plus. Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in professional services marketing and business development role. Demonstrated background of accomplishment in marketing and business development. Previous law firm experience is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communications skills. Proven leadership, productivity and efficiency demonstrated. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, Adobe Suite, Salesforce and InterAction client engagement software. Ability to manage multiple project timelines and tight deadlines with composure.
