Maintenance Supervisor Rendering
 
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities within a beef rendering facility, ensuring the proper functioning of machinery and equipment used to process animal byproducts, by managing a team of maintenance technicians, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs while adhering to safety regulations and production schedules. 
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training. 
       
    • Conduct performance evaluations and address employee concerns. 
       
    • Schedule shifts and ensure adequate staffing levels. 
       
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all rendering equipment. 
       
    • Inspect machinery regularly to identify potential issues and schedule necessary repairs. 
       
    • Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation. 
       
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions on rendering equipment, including processing lines, tanks, pumps, and conveyors. 
       
    • Coordinate repairs with outside contractors when necessary. 
       
    • Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks as needed. 
       
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and procedures within the rendering plant. 
       
    • Conduct safety inspections and address safety hazards promptly. 
       
    • Train staff on proper safety practices related to equipment operation and hazardous materials. 
       
  • Budget Management:
    • Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction. 
       
    • Manage maintenance budget effectively, including parts inventory and procurement. 
       
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Collaborate with production supervisors to schedule maintenance activities that minimize production disruptions. 
       
    • Communicate maintenance status updates to relevant stakeholders. 
       
    • Generate reports on maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance compliance and repair costs. 
       
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise:
    Strong understanding of industrial machinery, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and rotating equipment commonly used in rendering plants. 
     
  • Maintenance Management:
    Proven experience in developing and managing preventative maintenance programs. 
     
  • Leadership Skills:
    Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of maintenance technicians. 
     
  • Problem-Solving:
    Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose equipment issues. 
     
  • Safety Awareness:
    Deep commitment to safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
