Plant Operations Manager – Responsibilities
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of processing facilities, including cleaning, sizing, splitting, loading/unloading, and maintenance activities, while ensuring food safety and product quality systems are properly implemented
- Manage cleaning and splitting operations, including equipment performance, grain specifications and receiving standards, and staff assessment, training, and development
- Identify operational issues and implement solutions to maintain and improve plant efficiency and productivity
- Improve and enhance machinery and operational processes to support performance and output
- Lead and supervise processing staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to safety standards, applicable legislation, and company policies
- Foster a high-performing culture that promotes innovation, teamwork, resource efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Develop and implement effective training and mentoring programs aligned with company directives
- Support budget preparation and ongoing cost management of the processing department while ensuring production is delivered within budget
- Contribute to operating profit and cash flow objectives
- Monitor plant performance through reporting systems and recommend, plan, and implement plant and equipment optimization strategies
- Collaborate with management to analyze performance, set objectives, and align operational strategies with company policies
Plant Operations Manager – Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Minimum ten (10) years of management experience in a processing facility
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma
- Budget management experience
- Self-motivated and results-oriented with a high degree of initiative
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in relevant software for maintenance planning and documentation
