Plant Operations Manager – Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of processing facilities, including cleaning, sizing, splitting, loading/unloading, and maintenance activities, while ensuring food safety and product quality systems are properly implemented
  • Manage cleaning and splitting operations, including equipment performance, grain specifications and receiving standards, and staff assessment, training, and development
  • Identify operational issues and implement solutions to maintain and improve plant efficiency and productivity
  • Improve and enhance machinery and operational processes to support performance and output
  • Lead and supervise processing staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to safety standards, applicable legislation, and company policies
  • Foster a high-performing culture that promotes innovation, teamwork, resource efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement effective training and mentoring programs aligned with company directives
  • Support budget preparation and ongoing cost management of the processing department while ensuring production is delivered within budget
  • Contribute to operating profit and cash flow objectives
  • Monitor plant performance through reporting systems and recommend, plan, and implement plant and equipment optimization strategies
  • Collaborate with management to analyze performance, set objectives, and align operational strategies with company policies

Plant Operations Manager – Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum ten (10) years of management experience in a processing facility
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma
  • Budget management experience
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in relevant software for maintenance planning and documentation
