Operations Supervisor, Food Manufacturing – Responsibilities:
-
Lead and oversee daily production operations within a high-volume pork processing environment, including receiving, slaughtering, processing, cutting, deboning, and packaging activities
-
Supervise and support approximately 70 production employees while fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture
-
Drive employee engagement, training, coaching, development, and succession planning initiatives
-
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, FSQA, Maintenance, HR, Planning, Materials Management, and Finance teams to support production targets and continuous improvement initiatives
-
Monitor operational performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, optimize productivity, and reduce operating costs
-
Support and implement Lean Manufacturing initiatives utilizing OEE, DDS, 5S, QFD, TPM, and related continuous improvement methodologies
-
Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, SOP, OMAFRA, CFIA, and food safety regulations while maintaining high product quality standards
-
Lead corrective actions, root cause analysis, and problem-solving initiatives to minimize downtime and improve operational performance
-
Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to support process verification, staffing adjustments, efficiency improvements, documentation reviews, and real-time decision-making

Review staffing levels, production schedules, and material inventory requirements to support daily operational demands

Monitor and review operational, FSQA, HACCP, and production documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy

Collaborate with Human Resources regarding employee relations, performance management, workplace safety, and employee development initiatives

Communicate production results, performance metrics, and action plans to employees and leadership teams
-
Support cost-saving initiatives and operational improvements across the facility
-
Step into leadership responsibilities during absences of key operational personnel, including supporting Production or Operations Management functions when required

Roll up your sleeves and work alongside the team when needed to ensure production goals and deadlines are achieved

Support a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
Operations Supervisor, Food Manufacturing – Qualifications:
-
Proven leadership experience within a meat processing or food manufacturing environment required
-
3–5 years of leadership experience within food manufacturing, food processing, or a related production environment preferred
-
Experience working within large-scale, high-speed manufacturing operations with hands-on leadership responsibilities
-
Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, OMAFRA, CFIA, and food safety regulations
-
Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies
-
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvement abilities
-
Demonstrated ability to lead teams through growth, change, and evolving operational priorities
-
Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills
-
Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and delegate effectively
-
Strong organizational, analytical, and operational planning skills
-
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, OEE, DDS, 5S, QFD, or related methodologies considered an asset

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Management, or a related field considered an asset

Proficiency with computer applications, reporting systems, and operational metrics

Manufacturing environment with exposure to hot and cold conditions, slippery surfaces, stairs, ladders, and food allergens
-
Position requires extended periods of standing and walking throughout the facility
-
Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment and supporting the operation directly when required
