Export Logistics Specialist (Rail & Ocean)
Our client is hiring an Export Logistics Specialist for their Mississauga location. This hands-on logistics role is responsible for coordinating export shipments across rail, ocean, and cross-border transportation while ensuring freight moves efficiently, compliantly, and on schedule.
Working closely with carriers, rail providers, shipping lines, customs brokers, terminals, transloaders, and internal operations teams, you will take ownership of shipment execution from booking through final delivery. This role requires someone who can proactively resolve transportation issues, maintain visibility throughout the supply chain, and ensure export shipments are executed accurately and efficiently.

Export Logistics Specialist – Responsibilities
- Execute and manage export sales and purchase contracts, ensuring shipments are coordinated accurately from booking through final delivery.
- Coordinate with internal facilities to schedule loadings, issue shipping instructions, and support efficient movement and storage of products.
- Work directly with rail providers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transloaders, terminals, and transportation partners to ensure timely shipment execution.
- Coordinate export documentation and maintain shipment visibility throughout the transportation process.
- Monitor inbound and outbound shipments, proactively identifying delays, resolving transportation issues, and communicating updates to internal stakeholders.
- Prepare weekly logistics reports and monthly shipment forecasts to support operational planning.
- Identify logistics risks, recommend solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with company procedures, transportation regulations, and operational standards.
- Support additional logistics projects and operational initiatives as required.
Export Logistics Specialist – Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2–4+ years of hands-on logistics experience with direct responsibility for export shipment execution.
- Experience coordinating rail (CN/CP), ocean freight, and cross-border shipments.
- Strong understanding of export documentation, Incoterms, customs processes, and freight coordination.
- Experience working directly with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, terminals, and rail providers.
- Strong Excel skills and experience supporting logistics reporting and shipment tracking.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external logistics partners.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and ownership of shipment execution from start to finish.
