Our client is seeking a Freight Coordinator (Rail) at their Mississauga location to support the hands-on execution and management of rail-based shipments across their North American network.
This is a highly operational role where you’ll take ownership of keeping shipments moving — from booking and tracking to resolving day-to-day issues as they arise. You’ll be directly involved in rail and ocean logistics, working closely with carriers, terminals, and internal teams to ensure shipments move efficiently and on schedule.

- Full-time - Onsite schedule: Monday–Friday
- Salary up to $65,000/ year
- Benefits eligibility after 90 days

Freight Coordinator (Rail) – Responsibilities
- Execute and manage sales and purchase contracts, ensuring shipment status is accurately tracked and updated throughout the logistics lifecycle
- Coordinate closely with internal facilities to plan loadings, issue instructions, and support efficient movement and storage of goods
- Liaise with rail providers, shipping lines, freight partners, transloaders, and terminals to ensure timely and cost-effective execution
- Monitor inbound and outbound shipments in transit, maintaining visibility and proactively addressing risks or delays
- Prepare weekly logistics reports and monthly projection summaries to support planning and decision-making
- Identify risks and opportunities within the logistics flow, escalating issues and proposing practical solutions
- Support logistics-related projects and new initiatives as they arise
- Maintain compliance with internal safety policies and operational standards
Freight Coordinator (Rail) – Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- 2–4+ years of hands-on logistics experience with direct involvement in rail shipments (CN/CP) and exposure to ocean freight
- Proven experience executing shipments end-to-end — including booking, tracking, and resolving issues with carriers
- Experience with export shipments and cross-border logistics is strongly preferred
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to track shipments, manage data, and support operational reporting
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment with shifting priorities and tight timelines
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with carriers, terminals, and internal teams
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving shipment issues
- Self-starter who takes ownership of their work and can operate both independently and within a team
