KIT Recruitment is partnering with a Saskatchewan-based processing organization seeking a Plant Manager for their North Battleford facility. This is a highly hands-on leadership role focused on overseeing daily pulse and grain processing operations, leading plant staff, and ensuring efficient plant performance across cleaning, grading, and processing activities.

 

The ideal candidate will bring direct experience working with pulse processing equipment and a strong understanding of grading, quality, and plant flow operations.

Plant Manager – Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily plant operations including receiving, cleaning, grading, sizing, splitting, loading/unloading, and storage activities
  • Operate and supervise processing equipment including cleaners, gravity tables, de-stoners, indents, and color sorters
  • Monitor grain and pulse grading standards and ensure product quality specifications are consistently met
  • Lead and supervise plant staff (up to approximately 15 employees), ensuring productivity, safety, and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate production schedules and prioritize workflow to meet customer and operational requirements
  • Support maintenance activities and troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain equipment reliability
  • Maintain food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards throughout plant operations
  • Track plant performance and contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and computer-based tracking related to production and operations
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment

 

Plant Manager – Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience operating and managing pulse/grain processing equipment, including: Cleaners, Gravity tables, De-stoners, Indents, Color sorters
  • Minimum 5 years of pulse grading experience
  • Previous experience supervising plant staff in a processing or agricultural commodities environment
  • Strong understanding of pulse and grain processing operations, flow, and quality standards
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers, Excel, and operational reporting systems
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures
  • Previous experience in pulse, grain, or food ingredient processing strongly preferred

 

This role is best suited for someone who is highly operational, leads from the floor, and brings direct pulse-processing knowledge rather than purely corporate management experience.
