Plant Manager – Responsibilities
- Oversee daily plant operations including production, cleaning, sizing, splitting, loading/unloading, and maintenance, ensuring food safety and quality standards are consistently met
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions to improve plant efficiency and output
- Supervise and support plant staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards, company policies, and applicable legislation
- Manage grain specifications, receiving standards, and equipment performance for cleaning and splitting operations
- Support maintenance activities to minimize downtime and keep equipment running reliably
- Foster a positive team environment that supports safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Assist with budget tracking and cost management within the processing department
- Monitor plant performance and contribute to reporting, planning, and process improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain working relationships with suppliers, logistics partners, and customers
- Work closely with management to align day-to-day operations with company goals and standards
Plant Manager – Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years of experience in a plant, processing, or manufacturing environment, including some supervisory or leadership responsibility
- Experience in food manufacturing, agri-food, or a regulated processing environment is an asset
- Familiarity with safety regulations and food safety standards
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Solid communication and team leadership abilities
- Comfortable tracking budgets and contributing to cost management
- Proficiency in relevant software for maintenance planning and documentation
- Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
- Electrical certifications (433A, 442A, or 309A) are considered an asset
