Maintenance Team Lead (Mechanical & Electrical) – Afternoon Shift
KIT Recruitment has partnered with a high-performing food manufacturing facility to hire a Maintenance Team Lead (Electrical & Mechanical) for the afternoon shift. This is a hands-on, stand-alone role for a strong electrical troubleshooter who is comfortable owning the shift and keeping production running.
You’ll be the primary maintenance lead on afternoons, handling electrical diagnostics (PLC fault-finding, drives, sensors, panels) along with mechanical repairs, changeovers, and preventive maintenance. Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll support production by resolving issues quickly, safely, and with minimal downtime.
Maintenance Team Lead (Electrical & Mechanical) Details:
- Schedule: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
- Pay: $42/hr + $1/hr shift premium, with overtime available
- Benefits: Benefits after probationary period
- Vacation: 4% paid out on each pay
- RRSP: Company match up to 3% after one year
Maintenance Team Lead (Electrical & Mechanical) Responsibilities:
- Lead all afternoon preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on high-speed processing and packaging equipment
- Diagnose equipment issues independently and determine the appropriate repair path, including basic electrical fault-finding when required
- Keep clean and accurate records of repairs, parts used, and equipment updates
- Order parts, manage inventory, and maintain tools and equipment
- Oversee equipment changeovers (product-to-product shifts) and ensure setups are completed correctly to prevent downtime
- Perform mechanical repairs with confidence and support electrical troubleshooting related to sensors, motors, and control components
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and basic electrical schematics to support maintenance activities
- Coordinate third-party vendors and service technicians as needed
- Work closely with Production, QA, and Maintenance teams to keep operations running smoothly
- Uphold all safety requirements, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety standards
Maintenance Team Lead (Electrical & Mechanical) Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or Technician in food manufacturing or a high-speed, packaging-focused environment
- Well-rounded maintenance skill set with strong mechanical capability (pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission) and solid electrical troubleshooting experience
- Comfortable working around industrial electrical systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and basic PLC fault-finding, with a clear understanding of safe work practices
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics and equipment diagrams
- Confident problem-solver with the ability to diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues and make sound decisions on the production floor
- Effective communicator able to work across departments and shifts
- Working knowledge of LOTO and workplace safety standards in a manufacturing environment
- Organized, accountable, and able to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Electrical background or industrial electrician experience considered a strong asset
