Refrigeration Operator (A Or B)

KIT Recruitment has partnered with a leading producer of authentic specialty foods to recruit a Chief Refrigeration Operator for their Waterloo facility. This role is critical to the facility’s operations, with responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of industrial refrigeration systems. The company is seeking a hands-on professional with strong technical expertise, a TSSA certification, and a proven track record in industrial maintenance to help ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance across the plant.

Position Details

Hours: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm

Salary: 85,000

Responsibilities

·        Proven experience managing, operating, and maintaining industrial refrigeration or plant systems in a safe operating condition

·        Strong knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance practices for refrigeration and building systems

·        Ability to diagnose equipment faults and implement effective corrective actions

·        Demonstrated leadership experience directing, supervising, and training shift or refrigeration operators

·        Thorough understanding of refrigeration system inspections and compliance with TSSA requirements, manufacturer specifications, and internal procedures

·        Solid knowledge of food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, and SOP compliance

·        Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and safe work practices

·        Ability to identify, report, and address hazards, incidents, accidents, and near misses

·        Strong organizational skills to schedule maintenance activities and coordinate daily operator tasks

·        Commitment to maintaining clean, organized engine rooms and reporting food safety issues promptly

Qualifications

· Operator A or B Certification

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Refrigeration Operator

· Hands-on experience with ammonia and glycol refrigeration systems

· Strong knowledge of the applicable Refrigeration Code

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

· Valid Refrigeration Mechanic (313A) or Millwright/Electrician license considered a strong asset
