Our client, a leading animal processing manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on Afternoon Shipping Supervisor to lead distribution centre operations while actively working on the floor. This is a true working supervisor role — ideal for a strong operational leader who leads by example, maintains high standards, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. 

You’ll oversee afternoon shipping activities, supervise a small team, and ensure productivity, accuracy, food safety, and health & safety standards are consistently met in both refrigerated and dry warehouse environments. 

Afternoon Shipping Supervisor Details 

  • Hourly rate: $31–$33 per hour, + Overtime

  • Typical work week: 45–50 hours  

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 PM to finish (approx. 2:00 AM) 

  • Vacation: 15 days annually 

  • Benefits: Full Benefits after Probationary Period

Afternoon Shipping Supervisor Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and support a team of 4–6 shipping staff 

  • Coordinate daily shipping activities based on sales demand and trip schedules 

  • Actively participate in warehouse operations, including: 

  • Order picking 

  • Pallet building and wrapping 

  • RF scanning 

  • Truck loading and unloading 

  • Ensure FIFO practices, food safety standards, and proper load securement 

  • Lead and promote a strong health & safety culture 

  • Communicate effectively with shipping staff and cross-functional teams 

  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement real-time solutions 

  • Complete reports, inventory updates, and email communication as required 

 

Afternoon Shipping Supervisor Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment 

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience using: 

  • Electric pallet jacks / power walkies (in-house training available) 

  • Counterbalance forklifts (in-house training available) 

  • RF scanning systems 

  • Strong computer skills (inventory systems, reporting, email) 

  • Solid background in shipping, receiving, order picking, FIFO, and food safety 

  • Physically able to safely lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs.) 

  • Strong problem-solving, delegation, and communication skills 

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, can-do attitude 

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to attendance 

  • Health & Safety knowledge and enforcement experience is required
