Our client, a leading food processing manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic to support plant operations through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs. This role is ideal for a skilled maintenance professional who enjoys diagnosing issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for maintaining production, packaging, refrigeration, and facility equipment while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance.

 

Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic Details

  • $30.00–$36.00 per hour + $2.00/hour shift premium
    *
    (Range will be based on experience, certifications, and qualifications)
  • Sunday night to Friday morning, 10:30 PM – 7:30 AM
    *Overtime available as required
  • 15 days annually (6% vacation pay)

Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, and production equipment
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and facility equipment
  • Repair and maintain motors, conveyors, pumps, valves, controls, refrigeration systems, and packaging equipment
  • Monitor and maintain refrigeration systems in accordance with TSSA standards
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately and on time
  • Minimize equipment downtime through proactive maintenance and communication with production teams
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment records
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and internal departments to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, GMP, HACCP/SQF, and company quality standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

 

Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in a food processing, food manufacturing, or packaging facility
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
  • Millwright License, Industrial Maintenance Certification, or equivalent maintenance experience is considered a strong asset
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience is considered an asset
  • Refrigeration Operator B Certification (TSSA) is considered an asset
  • Experience working within CFIA or OMAFA regulated facilities and familiarity with HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards is preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, packaging, and processing systems is an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize workload
  • Comfortable working in refrigerated food manufacturing environments, including exposure to raw poultry products
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable attendance, flexibility for overtime, and willingness to support occasional weekend maintenance activities
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Physically capable of performing maintenance duties in an active manufacturing environment
