Quality Control Manager
Our client is seeking a Quality Control Manager to oversee food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across their manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance, this role is well suited to a hands-on quality leader with HACCP expertise and experience in food manufacturing, ideally within meat or animal protein environments.
Quality Control Manager – Details
· Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Quality Control Manager – Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the Quality department, overseeing a team of 8, including a Supervisor, Lead Hand, and 6 Quality Technicians.
· Manage all facets of quality operations including staffing, quality standards, traceability, HACCP, and food safety programs.
· Oversee the application of the company’s quality compliance system and ensure HACCP regulations are effectively implemented across manufacturing, packaging, and sanitation activities related to animal fats and proteins.
· Direct and manage all third-party and regulatory audits including BRC, CFIA Regulatory System Audits, USDA, and customer-specific audits; ensure audit readiness, documentation preparation, and timely corrective actions.
· Direct, manage, and maintain food safety programs including FSEP, HACCP, CFIA, SFCR, USDA, and FSIS regulatory requirements.
· Develop, maintain, and deliver training programs for production staff on HACCP, GMP, and FSSC to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and customer standards.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Production, Operations, and Customers to support and lead the development of QA policies and strategies.
· Ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance of all product labeling, including ingredient statements, nutrition facts, and nutritional claims.
· Manage the supplier food safety program to ensure incoming raw materials meet regulatory and product specification requirements.
· Oversee the hold and release program and manage non-conformance situations.
· Ensure all non-compliance issues, quality incidents, product failures, and customer complaints are investigated, documented, and addressed through corrective and preventive actions in line with CFIA requirements.
· Lead product recalls, new product launches, trials, and shelf-life studies; review and update HACCP plans accordingly.
· Support continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including controlled documentation, QA record archiving, and special quality initiatives.
· Conduct regular performance reviews and development planning for Quality team members to optimize engagement and performance.
· Ensure adherence to departmental policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Quality Control Manager – Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, or a related discipline (required).
· HACCP certification (required).
· Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry; meat or animal protein experience strongly preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience, leading quality or technical teams.
· Strong working knowledge of food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and audit standards.
· Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
· Proven ability to problem-solve, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
