KIT Recruitment
Back to List

KIT Recruitment has partnered with a fast-paced, high-performing food manufacturing facility to hire a Maintenance Team Lead for their afternoon shift — a stand-alone role for someone who thrives on ownership, problem-solving, and keeping production moving.

This isn’t a supervisor title on paper, but it runs like one. You’ll be the go-to maintenance pro on afternoons, working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor while overseeing day-to-day troubleshooting, changeovers, and preventative maintenance. You’ll work alongside a Maintenance Technician (not a direct report) and keep the plant running safely, efficiently, and with as little downtime as humanly possible.

Maintenance Team Lead Details:

  • Schedule: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Pay: $42/hr + $1/hr shift premium and Overtime available
  • Benefits: Benefits after probationary period
  • Vacation: 4% paid out on biweekly paycheck.
  • RRSP: Company matches up to 3% after 1 year of employment.

Maintenance Team Lead Responsibilities:

  • Lead all afternoon preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on high-speed processing and packaging equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment issues independently and determine the right repair path — no babysitting needed.
  • Keep clean and accurate records of repairs, parts used, and equipment updates.
  • Order parts, manage inventory, and maintain all tools and equipment.
  • Oversee equipment changeovers (product-to-product shifts) and ensure setups are done right to avoid breakdowns.
  • Tackle mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs with confidence.
  • Read electrical prints and equipment manuals like a pro.
  • Coordinate third-party vendors and technicians as needed.
  • Work closely with Production, QA, and Maintenance teams to keep operations smooth and downtime minimal.
  • Uphold all safety processes including lockout/tagout and compliance requirements.

Maintenance Team Lead Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a Maintenance or Industrial Mechanic in food manufacturing or a high-speed, packaging-heavy environment.
  • Strong mechanical skillset — pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, the whole works.
  • Solid electrical troubleshooting abilities and understanding of voltages.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and equipment diagrams.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills with the confidence to make decisions on the floor.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with multiple departments.
  • Knowledge of LOTO and workplace safety standards.
  • Organized, accountable, and able to operate with minimal supervision.
  • If you’re the type who can diagnose a problem, order the parts, fix the issue, and keep the shift humming — this is for you.
