Emergency Management Technical Specialist
Job Summary
The Emergency Management Technical Specialist provides technical and operational support for emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities. This role supports incident operations through field-based assistance, documentation, coordination, and technical execution of emergency management programs. The position serves as a part-time, deployable member of an Incident Management Team (IMT).

Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintain, transport, and set up incident-related equipment, supplies, and documentation (e.g., go-kits, laptops, radios, briefing materials, or training supplies) in support of EOC, IMT, field, or exercise operations.

Provide technical and operational support to emergency management and incident operations.

Assist with the implementation of emergency plans, procedures, and operational activities.

Support incident management operations using ICS and NIMS principles.

Assist with field assessments, inspections, data collection, and on-site coordination activities, as assigned.

Maintain accurate operational, compliance, and program documentation.

Support situation reporting, summaries, and tracking requirements.

Participate in IMT briefings, planning meetings, and coordination activities.

Serve as a deployable, part-time member of an Incident Management Team (IMT).

Deploy on short notice and remain available for the duration of the incident assignment.

Perform fixed-post or field-based duties depending on incident needs and assignment.

Required Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of emergency management principles and practices.

Understanding of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to analyze information and maintain accurate documentation.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary IMT.
Education and Experience:

Required: High School diploma or GED
-
Required: Relevant emergency management, disaster response, field operations, or technical support experience

Required: Ability to deploy on short notice and work extended hours during emergency activations.

Preferred: Prior experience in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or IMT environment.
Physical Requirements

Ability to work in office, remote, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and disaster-affected environments.

Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

This position may be assigned to fixed post or field operations, depending on incident needs and assignment.

Must be able to push, lift, carry and/or pull up to 15lbs unassisted.

Field assignments may require walking over uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
