GIS Production Specialist
Job Summary
The GIS Production Specialist is responsible for providing advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) production, database management, quality assurance, and technical support services for enterprise GIS operations. The GIS Production Specialist develops and maintains geospatial databases, manages GIS production workflows, supports enterprise data collection technologies, and produces high-quality cartographic products and geospatial analyses.

Duties/Responsibilities

Produce high-quality GIS maps, spatial analyses, databases, and geospatial products in support of agency programs and projects.

Perform advanced GIS database management, editing, maintenance, and quality assurance activities.

Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise GIS schemas, workflows, and data management procedures.

Coordinate GIS production activities to ensure timely delivery of accurate geospatial products.

Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures for GIS databases, maps, and reports.

Review GIS products for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.

Monitor enterprise GIS database integrity and ensure proper backup and recovery procedures are maintained.

Coordinate with hardware and software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve GIS system issues.

Assist with enterprise GIS system administration, including project setup, user account management, security, and permissions.

Develop and maintain automated GIS workflows using Python, Arcade, ModelBuilder, and other automation tools.

Manage mobile GIS data collection technologies, field applications, and synchronization processes.

Create, maintain, and manage enterprise geodatabases supporting organizational GIS operations.

Perform advanced spatial analysis, data validation, and cartographic production.

Support ArcGIS Online administration and web mapping applications.

Assist with ArcGIS Server and enterprise GIS environment configuration and maintenance.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project planning, implementation, and geospatial analysis.

Document GIS workflows, technical procedures, and production standards

Required Skills/Abilities

Advanced knowledge of GIS principles, cartography, and spatial analysis.

Strong experience with enterprise geodatabases and GIS data management.

Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and enterprise GIS environments.

Experience developing GIS automation tools using Python, Arcade, and ModelBuilder.

Knowledge of GIS quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Experience creating and maintaining GIS workflows and production standards.

Familiarity with ArcGIS Server and enterprise GIS architecture.

Understanding of spatial data collection methods and mobile GIS technologies.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary project teams.
Education and Experience
-
Required: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Natural Resources Management, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field

Required: Minimum of three (3) years of professional GIS experience OR Successful completion of any combination of 3 the following ESRI training courses within the past two years. This may be substituted for some of the experience and/or time requirements:
