Job Summary 

The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and supporting maintenance of infrastructure and environmental projects. This work may encompass a board range of project opportunities including transportation planning, utilities and hazardous waste, disaster recovery, water resources and municipal development. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering work products that complies with safety and regulatory standards. This will be a call-when-needed position in Chloeta’s environmental cadre, and the work may be performed both virtually and at client field sites.

 

Job Classification: 1099 Independent Subcontractor

Duty Station: Nationwide, virtual

Travel: Occasional travel to project sites may be required

 

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Develops and reviews engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Conducts site assessments, feasibility studies, and risk analyses to determine project viability.
  • Supports reporting requirements for project teams.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, building codes, and other safety standards.
  • Communicates with others to coordinate project activities.
  • Utilizes various engineering software products for modeling, simulations, and structural analysis.
  • Provides technical expertise and support to clients.

 

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant engineering software.
  • Strong knowledge of structural, transportation, geotechnical, and environmental engineering principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present technical information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green building standards is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical skills for engineering calculations and cost estimations.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other mapping tools.

 

Education and Experience 

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Required: Professional Engineer (PE) state license
  • Required: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in civil engineering, design, or construction.
