Lands Files Digitization Technician
Job Summary
The Lands Files Digitization Technician supports the land records digitization project for a local county in Tennessee. This role will be responsible for scanning, organizing, indexing, and quality-controlling historical land and survey records to create accurate digital archives.

Job Classification: 1099 Independent Subcontractor
Duty Station: Unicoi, Tennessee (Fully Onsite)
Travel: Up to 10%, Contingent upon business needs
Project Deliverables

Perform onsite scanning and digitization of land, survey, legal, and realty records

Handle a variety of record types including standard letter-size documents (8.5”x11”), bound and inbound files, survey field books, corner cards, plats and large-format documents, acquisition and ownership records, and special use records

Organize records into manageable scanning batches

Create and maintain indexing systems for scanned records

Organize files according to tract numbers and established file-naming conventions

Verify completeness and accuracy of scanned records

Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews on scanned documents

Identify and correct scanning errors, omissions, or image quality issues

Protect physical records from loss, damage, or misfiling during the digitization process

Coordinate with project personnel regarding quality control reviews and project progress

Ability to safely lift, carry, move, and organize file boxes weighing up to 30 pounds, including retrieving and shelving records as part of daily scanning and digitization activities
Required Skills/Abilities

Experience scanning, indexing, or managing records and documents.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Basic computer proficiency, including file management and document organization.

Ability to handle confidential or sensitive records responsibly.
Education and Experience

Required: Associate degree in records management, library science, geography, surveying, GIS, business administration, history, archival studies or a related field

Required: At least three (3) years of related professional experience

Preferred: Experience with land records, survey records, GIS-related documentation, legal records, or archival records
Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer work.

Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and office equipment

Ability to lift and move file boxes weighing up to 30 pounds

Reliable transportation and ability to work onsite in Unicoi, Tennessee.
