This position plays a key role within the manufacturing team, supporting daily shipping and receiving operations in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The role is multi-faceted and requires strong attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
 
Duties:
Including but not limited to:
 
  • Package and ship products according to customer specifications.
  • Determine appropriate container requirements to ensure safe product delivery.
  • Plan incoming product disposition and coordinate material flow.
  • Process packing slips, bills of lading, export documentation, and expedited orders.
  • Confer with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams regarding product issues and customer complaints.
  • Receive incoming materials, purchase orders, and raw materials in accordance with quality requirements.
  • Compare identifying information, counts, weights, or measurements of outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
  • Determine appropriate shipping methods based on schedules and requirements.
  • Affix shipping labels or stencil identifying information on cartons and containers.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select appropriate preassembled containers.
  • Insert items into containers and secure wooden crates with covers and metal bindings.
  • Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage as required.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications for accuracy, completeness, and condition.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operate tier lift truck, forklift, overhead crane, or hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments between shipping/receiving platforms and storage or work areas.
  • Study shipping notices, invoices, orders, and related records to determine priorities, assignments, and shipping methods.
  • Count, weigh, measure, or examine packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
  • Compare packed items to customer orders and identifying data.
  • Perform clerical duties including computer data entry, typing correspondence, and maintaining files.
  • Deliver incoming goods to appropriate departments.
  • Support and sustain 5S initiatives.
  • Uphold quality and EHS policies and support company Core Values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
 
Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • High school diploma or GED required; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience preferred.
  • Experience using measurement devices required.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred; must successfully complete in-house certification prior to operating equipment (training provided).
  • Crating or carpentry experience preferred.
  • Experience with UPS Worldship preferred.
  • Experience processing export paperwork preferred.
  • Understanding of SDS/Hazcom shipping regulations preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret bar graphs and related data.
  • Strong reasoning skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Ability to manage several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment with a high level of detail required.
