This position supports manufacturing operations by performing a variety of production, assembly, and material-handling tasks using engineering blueprints, work orders, and verbal or written instructions. The role focuses on producing quality products that meet stock and customer order requirements while supporting safety, quality, and continuous improvement standards.
 
Duties
Including but not limited to:
 
  • Perform a variety of production-related duties to meet stock and sales order requirements for shipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, work order process sheets, pick lists, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, presses, and production equipment to produce quality products.
  • Read and use measuring devices including tape measures, dial calipers, micrometers, squares, and protractors.
  • Identify and use standard and metric hardware sizes, including relating wrench and socket sizes to bolt diameters.
  • Select parts and materials using proper identification and location per engineering and work order requirements.
  • Accurately count, identify, and move materials or parts to and from designated areas or work cells while preventing damage or injury.
  • Perform visual and physical inspections of products, raw materials, and purchased materials to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Complete first-piece inspections to verify product quality prior to continuing production.
  • Stack and store finished products with proper identification and location.
  • Operate floor-controlled 2-ton overhead cranes to transport and position materials following established safety procedures.
  • Use chains, grabs, slings, and spreader bars to move materials safely and prevent damage.
  • Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, or unusual conditions to a supervisor.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Report accurate time, quantities, and production data on work order process sheets and timecards.
  • Support and sustain 5S practices within the department.
  • Support quality and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies.
  • Uphold organizational core values.
  • Strive for continuous improvement, new ideas, and enhanced quality standards.
  • Exercise care to prevent injury to self, coworkers, equipment, and materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Skills and Qualifications
 
  • Experience working in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • Hand and power tool experience preferred.
  • Machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous improvement efforts.
Education and Experience
 
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications and Training:
 
  • Must be willing and able to successfully pass an in-house forklift and overhead crane certification program prior to operating this equipment.
  • Operation of forklifts and overhead cranes is an essential function of this role.
  • Training will be provided.
