This position supports the development, documentation, and accuracy of electrical system designs. The Arc Flash / Control Design Technician works closely with engineers and project teams to produce detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and one-line drawings while contributing to arc flash studies, field data collection, and compliance reporting.

Duties:
Including but not limited to:
  • Develop and revise electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and one-line diagrams.
  • Collaborate with engineers to maintain documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), cable schedules, and panel layouts.
  • Translate design concepts into detailed drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Manage drawing revisions, maintain as-built documentation, and support revision control.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure design accuracy.
  • Participate in design review meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Track and manage design deliverables to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Assist with arc flash hazard analyses using tools such as EasyPower or SKM.
  • Collect field data to support accurate electrical system modeling.
  • Develop and interpret one-line drawings for power distribution and arc flash analysis.
  • Generate reports and labeling to support NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of electrical drafting or design experience, preferably in industrial or construction environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN preferred.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and industrial control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with electrical documentation such as wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and cable schedules.
  • Exposure to power system analysis software (EasyPower, SKM) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering and project teams.
  • Willingness to visit field sites as needed for data collection or verification.
