This position is a working lead role responsible for overseeing and supporting maintenance staff on the 2nd shift. The Lead Maintenance Technician ensures safe and efficient production through hands-on troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, blueprint and BOM interpretation, and support of sub-assembly and machine build activities. The role serves as the primary technical resource for the 2nd shift and partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure workflow continuity, equipment performance, and quality standards are met.

- Serve as the working lead for 2nd shift maintenance staff, providing daily direction, task prioritization, and hands-on support.
- Ensure smooth workflow throughout the shift by adjusting assignments to meet production schedules and quality objectives.
- Communicate shift handoff details to 1st shift leadership and maintenance teams to ensure continuity of work.
- Coach and support new or less experienced employees on processes, troubleshooting techniques, and proper equipment operation.
- Collaborate with the safety committee to ensure ongoing compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and recommend solutions for quality and equipment-related issues.
- Work closely with the Quality Technician to support in-process inspections, verify machines meet required specifications, and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Support root-cause analysis efforts related to quality deviations or equipment failures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, and process efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
- Communicate deviations, rework requirements, and quality concerns to the Assembly Supervisor and Quality Control.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a related field required; Industrial Technician Certificate or equivalent required. Associate of Applied Science or comparable degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in a union manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Proven ability to lead a team or function as a subject-matter expert on a production shift.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with quality, engineering, and production teams.
- Computer proficiency, including maintenance systems, email, and documentation tools.
