This position is responsible for leading and managing the brass foundry as a cohesive, high-performing operation. The General Foreman will operate the foundry with a business-owner mindset, overseeing cost control, production performance, equipment reliability, and employee and union matters. The role focuses on improving process efficiency, increasing employee engagement, forecasting supply and demand, and ensuring sustainable operational results.
 
Duties:
Including but not limited to:
 
Employee Engagement (40%)

• Lead the brass team through direct influence, mentorship, and coaching to drive team success.
• Conduct regular staff meetings, provide updates, and celebrate team achievements.
• Build strong working relationships through consistent 1:1 meetings with direct reports and leads.
• Monitor shop floor processes, identify production issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Teach and develop team members’ problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, HR, and environmental training requirements and standards.

Continuous Improvement (35%)

• Proactively identify and implement improvements to brass production processes.
• Coordinate with scheduling to communicate objectives and expectations to production supervisors.
• Evaluate machinery effectiveness and pursue cost reduction opportunities.
• Design, select, and manage research and development projects.
• Recommend and implement workplace and process improvements, including both non-capital and capital initiatives.
• Prepare business cases for capital improvement projects.
• Manage vendor relationships for repairs and equipment installations.
• Maintain open communication with customers regarding production and quality updates.
• Participate in industry networking to stay informed on best practices and solutions.

Data Analysis (25%)

• Drive system and process improvements within the brass foundry.
• Review production orders, planned orders, and inventory levels to develop effective production schedules.
• Optimize production output based on availability and demand.
• Maintain machine uptime and ensure regulatory compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Experience with AX or similar ERP systems preferred but not required.

Education and Experience:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of established leadership experience.
• Minimum of five years of foundry experience.

Preferred:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology or a related field.
• Familiarity with brass foundry products and operations.
