Overview:
We are on the lookout for a meticulous and experienced Senior Property Accountant to enhance our Accounting Department. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting and requires someone with a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, and in dept functional knowledge of Excel. You will be responsible for managing all accounting functions for a portfolio of properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews and audits of monthly income and expenses for multiple properties.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Post journal entries and verify their accuracy for financial integrity.
- Process vendor invoices and ensure payments are made promptly.
- Oversee tenant billing and collections, including rent and ancillary charges.
- Perform bank and security deposit reconciliations.
- Prepare annual income and expense statements; compile rent rolls for municipal and lender reporting purposes.
- Reconcile mortgage loan principal, interest, and escrow balances.
- Engage actively in the permitting process, inspections, and warranty management.
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice coding, vendor statements, and negotiations.
- Handle the month-end closing process for a property portfolio.
- Prepare detailed reports for management and stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in Property Management, Real Estate, or Construction industries is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong knowledge of formulas and data manipulation functions.
- Experience with accounting software, such as AvidXchange, is preferred.
- Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish are preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Solid understanding of GAAP as it applies to real estate/property management.
