Collections Specialist

Location: Queens, NY (On-Site)

Reports To: General Manager & Controller

Are you a seasoned Collections Specialist with a proven ability to drive cash flow in demanding, high-volume settings? We are seeking an experienced professional with expertise in collections within industries such as construction, fire protection, mechanical services, HVAC, or field services. If you excel in managing extensive aging portfolios and thrive in challenging environments, we want to hear from you.

This critical role is not entry-level. You will play a pivotal part in safeguarding revenue, reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and collaborating with executive leadership to ensure smooth business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle full-cycle, high-volume B2B commercial collections
• Manage and prioritize a substantial aging portfolio
• Engage directly with property managers, contractors, corporate AP teams, and key decision-makers
• Resolve billing disputes by coordinating with operations and accounting teams
• Drive down DSO and enhance cash flow performance
• Negotiate payment plans professionally and foster long-term relationships
• Strategically escalate high-risk accounts
• Provide detailed reporting and insights to executive leadership
• Support month-end close and accounts receivable reconciliation processes

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of high-volume B2B collections experience
• Strong background in relevant industries such as construction, fire protection, or mechanical services (highly preferred)
• Confidence in managing large receivables portfolios
• Experience with compliance-driven billing cycles and commercial contracts
• Resilient negotiation skills with professional persistence
• Highly organized with excellent follow-through
• Proficient in ERP/accounting systems and Excel
