private equity firm. The company operates in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with a disciplined capital program and
maintains a streamlined organizational structure designed to enable efficient execution, fast decision‑making, and close
collaboration with its investment partner.
Job Summary:
The Controller serves as the senior accounting professional and is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial
reporting functions. This role owns financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting support, and day‑to‑day accounting
operations. The position works closely with executive leadership and financial partners, requires a high level of autonomy,
and combines both strategic oversight and hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced environment.
Primary Duties:
• Own and manage all accounting books and coordinate with third‑party accounting vendors, financial partners, and
banks
• Maintain weekly and monthly financial reporting, including cash balances, account balances, accruals, and variance
reporting
• Manage capital calls and the joint interest billing (JIB) process, ensuring timely funding and accurate billing to
working interest owners
• Calculate, verify, and distribute revenue and royalty payments in accordance with applicable guidelines and
timelines
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational accounting, including accounts payable monitoring, vendor communication, and
chart of accounts management
• Support production reporting and ensure consistency across required regulatory and landowner reporting
• Support monthly commodity reconciliations by coordinating with midstream partners and third‑party consultants
• Coordinate with third‑party tax advisors on corporate income tax preparation
• Maintain working knowledge of and ensure compliance with joint operating agreements and industry accounting
procedures
Educational/Experience Level:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (relevant experience considered)
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required
• Extensive accounting experience, including significant exposure to upstream oil and gas accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and industry‑specific accounting practices
• Experience operating in lean or entrepreneurial environments and managing full‑cycle accounting
• High proficiency with Excel and relevant accounting systems
