Regulatory Compliance & Process Management
- Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and maintaining comprehensive quality assurance processes to meet demanding regulatory and customer requirements. This includes leading and supporting internal, external, and supplier audits to guarantee unwavering compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and NADCAP standards. The position oversees the design and lifecycle of core quality documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), detailed work instructions, and product control plans to ensure strict quality data integrity and component traceability.
Corrective Actions & Product Reliability
- Actively investigates non-conforming materials, failed processes, and anomalous products to isolate defects and enforce robust corrective actions. Partnering closely with internal design, manufacturing operations, and supply chain teams, this role aims to continuously improve overall product reliability and structural integrity. The engineer utilizes Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and advanced problem-solving methodologies to optimize quality performance and aggressively minimize production line variability.
Inspection Standards & Supplier Management
- Oversee supplier performance expectations, driving targeted supplier corrective actions and evaluating incoming raw material certifications. Leveraging material expertise in specialized alloys—specifically Steel, Inconel, and Titanium—the engineer performs complex process capability studies and applies Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to uphold blueprint requirements. Additionally, this role is responsible for training and mentoring junior quality engineers and production floor staff on precise visual and dimensional inspection standards.
New Product Development & Metrics Reporting
- Ensures strict quality compliance throughout all new product development phases, reviewing engineering changes to guarantee that customer metrics are achieved from early concept to final forging. The engineer routinely monitors, compiles, and presents key quality performance trends, scrap tracking, and first-pass yield metrics directly to the plant leadership team. This proactive approach guarantees that advanced closed-die and rolled-ring forgings conform completely to critical civil and military flight specifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, Metal, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience will be accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of quality engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, forge facility, or regulated machine shop.
- Material & Regulatory Expertise: Hands-on technical knowledge of specialized alloys (Steel, Inconel, or Titanium) alongside solid familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Engineering & Software Tools: Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), FMEA, and formal process validation, with proficiency using statistical tools (Minitab/JMP) and ERP/PLM enterprise systems.
- Professional Certifications: Holding an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation or a Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is highly preferred.
- Physical & Environmental Fit: Exceptional visual attention to detail to identify minute surface flaws, physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, and full comfort working 100% onsite around industrial noise and high-temperature forge cells.
- Travel & Adaptability: Ability to travel occasionally for off-site supplier audits and corporate visits while managing multiple projects effectively under pressure.
Relocation Assistance will be considered for the right candidate.
