JOB SUMMARY

This position operates within the high-precision aerospace manufacturing industry, focusing on the fabrication of flight-critical structural hardware. You will utilize advanced 5-axis Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL) to perform complex machine setups, tool offsets, and program edits. The role requires machining large-diameter, exotic aerospace alloys like titanium and Inconel down to tight tolerances. Core expectations include actively contributing to process improvement initiatives to optimize cycle times and upholding rigorous safety and preventative maintenance standards to ensure an efficient shop floor.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Machine Operation will set-up and safely operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL) equipped with 5-axis capabilities to machine complex aerospace flight and structural hardware.
  • Perform multi-axis machine setups, tool changes, offsets, and program edits at the machine control box (e.g., Fanuc or similar controllers).
  • Read and interpret complex aerospace engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing routers.
  • Utilize precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and bore gauges) to verify part dimensions against tight tolerances.
  • Will comfortably handle and work with various materials within the aerospace-grade such as alloys, titanium, Inconel, and large-diameter forged components.
  • Collaborate closely with programming and engineering teams to optimize cycle times, refine fixture designs, and perfect tooling selections to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Follow strict AS9100 safety protocols, maintain a clean workspace, and perform daily preventative machine maintenance to protect equipment and team health.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC VTL machines, with specific proficiency in multi-axis (up to 5-axis) configurations.
  • Industry Background: Previous experience working within an Aerospace or Defense manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (AS9100 standards highly preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in blueprint interpretation, GD&T, tool geometry, and program editing.
  • Looking for candidates seeking a permanent, long-term Direct Hire placement.
  • Schedule: Ability to work the designated 2nd shift schedule reliably, including occasional overtime as production demands require.
  • ITAR Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) to comply with ITAR and defense manufacturing data regulations.
