We're supporting a growing machining company in hiring a Manufacturing Documentation Specialist position. This position will be instrumental in supporting the quality and production teams in building and creating accurate manufacturing documentation packets to be issued to customers along with delivered products. Ideal candidates will have at least three years experience in manufacturing/machining environments and developing manufacturing packets to include items such as MTR's, QC reports, 3rd party services certifications (ex: coating, heat treating, etc.), and any other documentation needed or required. 

 

Overview

The Manufacturing Documentation Specialist plays a central role in ensuring that all production-related documentation is accurate, compliant, and accessible. This position supports manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams by creating, maintaining, and controlling documents that guide production processes, support regulatory compliance, and enable continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Documentation Creation & Management

  • Develop, write, and revise manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch records, forms, and job aids.
  • Ensure all documents meet internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain document control systems, ensuring proper versioning, approvals, and archival processes.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering, production, and quality teams to gather technical information and translate it into clear, user‑friendly documentation.
  • Support new product introductions by preparing and updating documentation aligned with evolving processes.
  • Participate in audits and inspections by providing required documentation and ensuring readiness.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline documentation workflows and improve clarity, consistency, and usability.
  • Assist in implementing digital documentation tools or systems to enhance accessibility and compliance.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of existing documents to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Training & Support

  • Provide training to manufacturing personnel on the use and interpretation of documentation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for documentation standards, templates, and best practices.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in manufacturing, quality, technical writing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical information.
  • Familiarity with document control systems and quality management systems (QMS).
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Background in regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, oil & gas, automotive).
  • Knowledge of ISO standards compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with digital documentation platforms (e.g., PLM, ERP, QMS software).
