An industry leader in the design and manufacturing of skid mounted centrifugal pump packages is seeking a Pump Designer to join their Shreveport team. The Pump Designer will be working in SolidWorks to complete all facets of design including edits, major drawings, drafting, and actual hydraulic designs from scratch. Ideal candidate will have an Engineering degree but is focused on mechanical design, and have experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment. Position will be working with company SME to learn all aspects of company's designs, pump components and usage, edits to current designs, and supporting and/or leading efforts in creating new design packages.
Responsibilities of Pump Designer include, but are not limited to:
- Creating and revising drawings on rotating equipment parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Supporting company design SME in creation of new hydraulic design packages and training on company's various product designs, capabilities, and editability.
- Work with local engineering team and company's engineering center to complete design analysis.
- Engage in feedback on designs from manufacturing team (ex: machinists, mechanics, etc.).
- Report to Engineering Manager and Design SME.
- Position will be expected to learn CFD and FEA if not already experienced in these tests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with designing centrifugal pump systems
- Knowledge of hydraulics and fluid systems
- Experience in designing skid packages
- Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM structures
- Experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
Qualifications of the Pump Designer include, but not limited to:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar 4 year technical degree preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of hydraulic design experience preferred.
- SolidWorks Certifications a plus (CSWA, CSWP, etc.).
- Flexible, adaptable, self-motivated, and willing to learn.
Additional Information:
- Physical Demand: Ability to sit using a computer for extended periods of time.
- Working Conditions: 90% Office environment 10% Machine/Fab shop
- Shift Time/Overtime: Day Shift - 8am-5pm Monday through Friday - flexible start and end times with management approval.
- Travel: Some regional travel as needed or required, less than 5%
