Account Manager - Manufacturing
We're supporting a rapidly growing machine shop with an Account Manager opportunity in the League City area. Ideal candidates will have previous inside sales/account management roles in manufacturing, fabrication, or machining companies, experienced in handling quotes, RFP's/RFI's/RFQ's, continuous customer engagement, a knowledge of ISO standards, and highly proficient in verbal and written communication.
Position Summary
The Account Manager serves as the primary liaison between the manufacturing organization and its customers. This role is responsible for managing key accounts, ensuring accurate order execution, maintaining strong customer relationships, and coordinating internally with production, engineering, quality, and logistics teams. The Account Manager drives customer satisfaction, supports revenue growth, and ensures that customer requirements are clearly communicated and fulfilled.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Customer Relations
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned customer accounts
- Build and maintain long‑term, trust‑based relationships with customers
- Understand customer needs, product requirements, and business cycles
- Conduct regular account reviews and identify opportunities for growth
- Manage escalations and coordinate cross‑functional responses
Order & Project Coordination
- Oversee order status updates
- Ensure accurate communication of lead times, pricing, and delivery schedules
- Coordinate with production planning, engineering, and quality to meet customer expectations
- Track open orders, backlogs, and delivery performance
- Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and customer-specific documentation
Commercial & Strategic Support
- Prepare quotes, pricing updates, and contract renewals
- Monitor account performance, sales trends, and margin health
- Identify upsell/cross‑sell opportunities within existing accounts
- Support forecasting activities and provide demand insights to planning teams
- Participate in customer meetings, audits, and business reviews
Quality & Issue Resolution
- Ensure timely communication of quality issues and resolutions
- Work with internal teams to prevent recurrence and improve customer satisfaction
Reporting & Metrics
- Maintain accurate ERP account data
- Track KPIs such as on‑time delivery, order accuracy, customer satisfaction, and revenue performance
- Provide weekly/monthly updates to leadership on account status and risks
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5 years of account management, customer service, or sales support experience
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or technical environments
- Strong understanding of production workflows, lead times, and order management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, Epicor, SAP, Oracle)
- Ability to manage multiple accounts in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred
- Experience with ISO 9001 or other QMS frameworks
- Background in machining, fabrication, assembly, or custom manufacturing
- Familiarity with EDI, customer portals, and technical documentation
- Experience supporting engineering changes or new product launches
