Foreman, Site Development & Excavation

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Pay: $70K to $85K + Annual Bonus

The Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role leads a crew to perform site preparation work and maintains high standards for quality, safety and teamwork.

Foreman Responsibilities:

Crew Leadership & Scheduling

• Lead, supervise, train, and evaluate field crews
• Create daily and weekly work plans; conduct end-of-day planning for upcoming tasks
• Assign work based on crew skills, equipment availability, and project priorities

Site & Project Execution

• Interpret and apply project plans, specifications, and blueprints
• Oversee excavation, grading, underground utilities (storm, water, sanitary), and foundation work

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations
• Ensure compliance with local codes, permits, and testing requirements

Equipment, Tools & Materials

• Oversee proper operation and care of heavy equipment
• Plan and coordinate material orders and trucking to minimize downtime
• Verify locates and schedule required inspections and testing

Foreman Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of site work experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, utilities, and construction methods
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and trench safety requirements
• Experience coordinating crews, equipment, materials, and schedules
