Sr Electrical Reliability Engineer
Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer
Bogalusa, Louisiana
$120,000 – $140,000 + Comprehensive Benefits + Paid Relocation
Position Overview
In this senior-level capacity, you are not merely a technician, but the strategic architect of electrical asset health. You will be responsible for the technical integrity of the mill’s electrical infrastructure—from high-voltage distribution to complex drive systems. Your success is measured by your ability to bridge the gap between Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations, fostering a culture where reliability is a shared business objective.
Strategic Mandates & Key Responsibilities
1. Reliability Strategy & Lifecycle Management
-
Predictive Architecture: Design and implement mill-wide integrated action plans focusing on electrical reliability elements (PdM, PM, and precision maintenance).
-
Asset Optimization: Properly develop and refine maintenance plans that economically optimize the life of high-value equipment, ensuring maximum ROI on electrical assets.
-
Metric Ownership: Monitor and track reliability metrics, including cost-per-recordable, labor efficiency, and contractor services, to ensure alignment with the facility’s budget.
2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
-
Influence Without Authority: Provide high-level mentorship to electrical leaders and maintenance supervisors across the mill, including those outside of the formal reliability organization.
-
Culture Transformation: Act as a change agent to close "realizable gaps" in machine performance, shifting the site from a reactive "break-fix" mindset to a proactive Reliability Excellence (RE) model.
-
Accountability: Set clear technical expectations and hold both cross-functional teams and individuals accountable for reliability results.
3. Advanced Problem Solving & Training
-
RCFA Leadership: Lead complex Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for significant electrical events, ensuring that corrective actions address systemic issues rather than symptoms.
-
Knowledge Transfer: Develop and deliver specialized training in areas such as precision lubrication for motors, electrical basic care, and advanced preventive maintenance techniques.
-
Safety Integration: Support broad-based participation in the mill’s safety process, ensuring all reliability modifications prioritize the "Zero Injury" culture.
The Profile: What You Bring
-
The Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
-
The Legacy: 10–15+ years of operations, maintenance, or engineering experience specifically within a paper manufacturing or heavy industrial mill environment.
-
Systemic Thinking: Proven ability to utilize a Balanced Scorecard and CSA processes to align personal objectives with mill-wide production goals.
-
Financial Acumen: Experience managing multi-million dollar maintenance budgets and searching for innovative methods for cost reduction without compromising reliability.
-
Soft Skills: Superior ability to foster a "partnership" culture between Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering.
