The Opportunity
global biopharmaceutical leader where AI and analytics are not just support functions—they are the engine powering R&D and commercial operations to save lives.
As a Senior AI Platform Engineer, you will be a cornerstone of a newly formed AI & Analytics Platform Engineering & Standards team. This team is scaling rapidly to meet the demand for internal, real-time innovation. You will be responsible for building the high-performance "bedrock" that allows data scientists and ML researchers to deploy life-saving treatments at scale.
The Mission
You believe that "good platform engineering is rarely seen, only felt." You are a highly technical, hands-on engineer who thrives on solving architectural challenges. You will champion an automation-first, self-service environment, ensuring that the developer experience is seamless, secure, and highly scalable.
Key Responsibilities
-
Platform Innovation: Build and optimize the core features of an AI/ML developer platform that supports model training, inference, and deployment.
-
Architectural Leadership: Design systems for both real-time (low-latency) and batch workflows, ensuring they are robust enough for global scale.
-
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive the adoption of Terraform/CDK and GitOps workflows to automate cloud-based infrastructure.
-
Cross-Functional Synergy: Act as a bridge between foundational cloud teams and "spoke" AI teams to ensure the platform is reliable, compliant, and efficient.
-
Performance Engineering: Optimize system performance, scale compute (CPU/GPU), and reduce operational costs through smart automation.
Technical Requirements
-
Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
-
Experience: 5+ years of engineering experience, with a proven track record of building AI/ML or Data platforms.
-
Cloud Ecosystem: Deep proficiency in AWS (specifically SageMaker and associated AI services).
-
Tooling & Automation: * Strong IaC skills (Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi).
-
Expertise in CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and Version Control.
-
Container orchestration via Kubernetes or Rancher.
-
-
Languages: Strong command of Python, Spark, and SQL.
-
ML Frameworks: Practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Industry: Prior experience in Pharma, Biotech, or highly regulated environments.
-
Systems Programming: Proficiency in a strongly typed language such as Go, Rust, Java, or C++.
-
Distributed Computing: Familiarity with Ray, Dask, or high-performance clusters (Slurm).
-
Data Architecture: Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, or Lake Formation (Delta Lake/Iceberg).
-
Hardware Optimization: Experience with multi-GPU infrastructure and CUDA fundamentals.
