Manager, Converged Security Systems
Manager, Converged Security Systems
Kansas City, MO (Hybrid REMOTE / Flexible Work-from-Home)
$110,000 – $140,000 + Full Benefits
You will lead the design, implementation, and management of security architectures that protect both corporate headquarters and complex, multi-million dollar project sites. This is not a "guards and gates" role—it is a technical leadership position focused on the IT/OT/Physical convergence, ensuring that smart building technologies and field-site infrastructures are scalable, maintainable, and resilient against sophisticated threats.
Strategic Mandates & Key Responsibilities
1. Converged Infrastructure Design & Architecture
-
Holistic System Design: Produce high-level specifications for Access Control (ACS), Video Management Systems (VMS), and Intrusion Detection (IDS), with a specific focus on the cybersecurity of ICS/OT/IoT edge devices.
-
Framework Engineering: Translate complex compliance frameworks—specifically ISO 27001 and NIST SP 800-82—into tangible technical requirements, ensuring that physical hardware meets IT-security-grade protocols.
-
Federal Compliance: Act as the lead authority for ensuring systems meet federal credentialing standards (PIV/FIPS) required for government-contracted projects.
2. Cyber-Physical Risk & SOC Integration
-
Integrated Monitoring: Partner with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to integrate physical security alerts into centralized cyber-monitoring dashboards, enabling a unified response to "blended" threats.
-
Unified Risk Assessments: Conduct Cyber-Physical risk assessments that evaluate how a digital breach could impact physical safety, and how a physical breach could compromise the corporate network.
-
Incident Response Playbooks: Develop and maintain cross-functional playbooks for Crisis and Emergency Response teams that account for compromised smart-building technologies.
3. Smart Building & Project Advisory
-
Project Lifecycle Consultation: Serve as the internal consultant for project managers and clients, ensuring that "Smart Site" technologies (drones, IoT sensors, connected heavy equipment) are managed under IT security policies.
-
Technical Strategy: Collaborate with IT Security leadership to define a 3-year roadmap for converged security that anticipates the shift toward cloud-based VMS and biometric access.
-
Vendor Ecosystem Management: Lead the selection and vetting of security integrators and vendors, ensuring their hardware firmware and software deployment processes meet strict cybersecurity hygiene standards.
The Profile: What You Bring
-
The Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Engineering.
-
The Bridge Expertise: 7–10 years of experience where you have successfully managed the intersection of IP-based security hardware and Network Security.
-
Framework Mastery: Demonstrated ability to implement NIST 800-82 or ISO 27001 in a "bricks and mortar" environment.
-
Construction Savvy: Experience managing the unique security challenges of temporary project sites (remote connectivity, ruggedized hardware, and rapid deployment).
-
Communication: The ability to explain "why we need 802.1X authentication on a security camera" to a field superintendent and "why physical tailgating is a cyber risk" to a CISO.
