Position Summary

This critical leadership role provides direct support to the senior executive (Chief Nursing Officer/CNO) responsible for all nursing and designated patient care functions within the hospital organization, with a specific focus on Psychiatric (Behavioral Health) services.

The Director is responsible for assisting in the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice on a multi-unit level. This position assumes 24/7 accountability for the assigned clinical areas and is charged with partnering with the CNO to ensure high quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, maintain the competency of clinical staff, and manage resources effectively related to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and operational oversight for all assigned Psychiatric/Behavioral Health nursing units/services.

• Actively participate in strategic planning, goal setting, and evaluation of nursing practice standards to ensure alignment with organizational mission and regulatory compliance.

• Ensure the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care within the psychiatric units.

• Manage human and material resources effectively, including staffing, budgeting, and performance management.

• Serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing, fostering a culture of excellence, compassion, and continuous improvement.

• Maintain highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with the IDT, physicians, hospital leadership, and staff.

Required Qualifications

• Education
• Master's Degree
• (MSN or Master's in a health-related field) required. Note: Must have an Associate Degree from an accredited nursing school with a Bachelor's degree in a health care related field or a BSN.
• Experience Minimum 3 years of dedicated experience in Psychiatric (Psych) services is mandatory.
• Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment at a Manager or Director level.
• Licensure/Certifications Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts (or ability to obtain).
• Current CPR certification required.
