Position Overview
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join their electrical team. This is an onsite position focused on the design and production of electrical construction documents, Revit modeling, and coordination of industrial and utility related projects.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in electrical design for industrial and utility-related facilities, along with strong technical, communication, and mentoring skills. This individual will work closely with engineers, project managers, architects, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Design industrial lighting systems, including interior, exterior, emergency, exit, and lighting controls.
- Gather and coordinate electrical design information from clients, architects, contractors, and engineering disciplines.
- Create electrical room layouts including transformers, switchboards, switchgear, motor control centers, and panelboards.
- Size feeders, conduits, and cable tray systems.
- Perform 2D and 3D electrical modeling and coordinate designs with other disciplines.
- Conduct clash detection and participate in model coordination reviews.
- Perform voltage drop and short-circuit calculations.
- Develop schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Review shop drawings for dimensions, conduit entries, and equipment layout.
- Conduct site visits and gather existing facility information.
- Prepare construction observation reports.
- Mentor and support junior electrical designers.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and estimating design hours.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of electrical drafting/design experience in consulting engineering and/or construction environments.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
- Experience performing electrical equipment modeling and multidisciplinary coordination in Revit.
- Ability to create and manage 3D electrical models.
- Understanding of architectural, civil, structural, and electrical construction documents.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, IBC, IFC, Energy Code, and Life Safety Code.
- Knowledge of electrical design fundamentals including grounding, overcurrent protection, and electrical distribution systems.
- Familiarity with QA/QC and document control procedures.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred
- Associate degree or diploma in Drafting, Design, or a related field.
- Experience with SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar power system modeling software.

Compensation
$49.50 – $61.90 per hour plus eligibility for an annual bonus. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, education, and location.
